The Cellular and Molecular Mechanobiology Group is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on synthetic mechanotransduction. The candidate will work on a joint project co-led by Prof. Pere Roca-Cusachs at IBEC, and Prof. Marc Güell, head of the Translational Synthetic Biology lab at UPF. The goal of the project will be to engineer a synthetic system of mechanosensitive gene editing. Cells and tissues are known to respond to mechanical signals from their environment such as tissue rigidity, in a way that regulates major processes in health and disease. In this context, developing a system able to edit the genome with mechanical specificity will open currently unexplored areas for biomedical applications. The position will be part of the ERC-funded project MechanoSynth.
